Manx Park was originally owned by the Flick family from Flick Pest Control fame and was used to run the cattle of the former President of the Thoroughbred Breeders Australia Richard Turnley.
In, 1991 after winning the Golden Slipper with Tierce, Turnley, purchased the 330-acre property with a view top extending his thoroughbred breeding operation.
He named the property, Manx Park in honour of Tierce’s mother.
Turnley purchased the mare Manx Park in foal from an Inglis sale of the late Robert Sangster.
The property was fenced and approx 7000 trees were planted and it’s use as a thoroughbred breeding and agistment property commenced.
Manx Park has a cemetery where the namesake Manx Park, her stakes winning and stakes producing daughter Winged Prayer and the last Sea Bird stallion to die in the world, Manwari (USA) – aged 29 all rest peacefully.
The property has played an integral roll is the growth, development and or recharging of many top gallopers including multiple Group One winner Racing To Win, Blue Diamond Stakes winner Principality and top line stakes performers Sportsman, Sir Dex, Besume Muncho and Victory Dash.
In April of 2004, Manx Park’s current owner Peter O’Shea purchased the property from Turnley and set about structuring the farm to take its potential to another level.
A string of one acre individual spelling yards were built and the large paddocks ranging from 25 acres to 50 acres had the fencing repaired or replaced and new foaling yards were also built.
O’Shea also hired a turf expect and a large sum of money was invested to provide the best possible surface across all the yards of the paddocks.
Manx Park now offers a wide range of facilities for your dry mare, mare and foal, weanling, yearling or racehorse.
All large yards have individual dams and have tree lines circumnavigating each paddock.
We aim to offer the best possible service that gives you the best chance for “Racing and Breeding To Win”.
